The Water Resources Minister, Sarah Ochekpe, said on Wednesday that the Federal Government had spent N5 billion on Mangu dam project.
The rally was attended by Senate President, David Mark and Governors of Niger and Benue, Mu’azu Babangida and Gabriel Suswam.
Ms. Ochekpe said the Dam had been dormant for more than 10 years before the money was earmarked for its completion.
“This government had sunk over N5 billion for the completion of the Dam to give the people of Mangu good drinking water”, she said.
She said the dam would be of immense importance to the people of the locality, especially in the areas of farming, fishing and drinking.
“President Goodluck Jonathan deserves your total support and votes for him to continue with his good work”, Ms. Ochekpe said.
She said the government had proven itself in terms of development and called on people of the state to wisely cast their votes in the forthcoming elections.
